SUPPORTING YOU

Funding boost for early years childcare

Early Years childcare support is expanding, with Government funded hours now available for children from 9 months old.

You may be entitled to 15 hours funded childcare support from the term after your child turns 9 months old, until they start school.

In September 2025, 15 hours for working families with children under 3 will expand to 30 hours, meaning eligible working families will be able to claim 30 hours of childcare from the term after their child turns 9 months until they reach school age.

FUNDING OPTIONS

All-year-round funding

For nurseries operating year-round (51 weeks or more), parents can access stretched funding hours. This allows for up to 11 funded hours weekly across 51 weeks (equal to 15 hours per week during term time) or up to 22 hours per week over 51 weeks (equivalent to 30 hours per week during term time).

It’s important to note that government funding does not cover items such as snacks, meals, nappies, wipes, or additional services. At Little Pips, we may charge for these “extras,” which include activities like Forest School, swimming, collaborations with artists, or specialist programs. These charges help bridge the gap between the high-quality care and facilities we provide and the funding allocated for basic childcare.

Funding for children
from Sept 2025

Aged 9 months
& up
 (From Sept 2024)

From September 2025, funding will be available for eligible working families with children aged 9 months or older. Families can receive up to 30 hours funded childcare support per week, over 38 weeks of the year. At Little Pips, we offer stretched funding, so that families can receive up to 22 hours per week over 51 weeks of the year.

To check eligibility, please visit childcarechoices.gov.uk. For further details, contact our admissions team for a copy of our funding policy.

3- and 4-year-old funding

All 3 to 4 year olds in England are now eligible for 570 funded hours per year, from the term after they turn 3 years old through to starting school. This equates to 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year, however at Little Pips we offer stretched funding which provides up to 11 funded hours per week over 51 weeks of the year. Families who meet the criteria for extended funding can access up to 22 hours per week over the same period.

For more information and to check eligibility, please visit childcarechoices.gov.uk. Our admissions team can provide a copy of the funding policy upon request.

Tax-free childcare

Parents can receive up to £500 every 3 months for each of their children to help with the costs of childcare.

If you get Tax-Free Childcare, you'll set up an online childcare account for your child. For every £8 you pay into this account, the government will pay in £2 to use to pay for your nursery fees.

You can get Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as 15 or 30 hours free childcare, if you're eligible for both.
